All you need to know about Diego Pacheco vs. Marcelo Coceres

Continuing his progression at super middleweight, Diego Pacheco is ready for a step up in competition. The Los Angeles star takes on former world title challenger Marcelo Coceres at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood on November 18. The 10-round bout, plus undercard action, will air on DAZN worldwide.

Pacheco, 22, turned pro in 2018 following a successful amateur career. He’s competed twice in 2023, handing Jack Cullen a pummeling to start the year before scoring a TKO win over Manuel Gallegos.

Ranked No. 9 on The Sporting News’ Boxing 25 Under 25 list, Pacheco looks to prove he has what it takes to face the top fighters in the division.

“I cannot wait to be headlining at home,” said Pacheco via Boxing Scene. “I am looking forward to making a statement and delivering another great performance for all my hometown fans.”

Coceres turned pro in 2012. Winning local gold in Argentina, Coceres failed to capture the WBO super middleweight title from Billy Joe Saunders in 2019. He has traded wins and losses since and is 2-2 in his last four fights. “El Terrible” last fought in May, beating Leonel Eduardo Avila via TKO.

A substantial underdog in this bout, Coceres is determined to cause a massive upset.

“November 18, in his backyard, this is what warriors do,” said Coceres. “I have a lot of respect for Pacheco, he’s a good fighter, but he’s still young, and he has time. This is my time now. I’ve been here before. I’ve been to war. Let’s see how the young boy does when his back is against the wall. I’m bringing everything into this fight. I can’t afford another loss at this point in my career.”
