All you need to know about David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade

Fight fans have requested that Canelo Alvarez face both David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade for years. On November 25, the pair will fight each other for the right to finally take on the Mexican superstar next year. Benavidez vs. Andrade takes place at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas and will air on Showtime PPV in the U.S.

Benavidez turned pro in 2013. Four years later he beat Ronald Gavril to win the vacant WBC super middleweight title but was stripped in 2019 after testing positive for cocaine. Reclaiming the title from Anthony Dirrell, Benavidez was once again stripped when he failed to make weight against Alexis Angulo. “El Bandera Roja” beat David Lemieux to win the interim WBC belt in 2022 and competed in a slugfest against Caleb Plant in March, beating the former champion via unanimous decision.

Andrade made his pro debut in 2008. The 2007 Pan American Games silver medalist won the WBO super welterweight title in 2013 against Vanes Martirosyan and the WBA (regular) super welterweight title from Jack Culcay in 2017. “Boo Boo” then moved to middleweight and won the WBO title in 2018 against Walter Kautondokwa. He defended the belt five times, but following postponements against mandatory challenger Janibek Alimkhanuly and Zach Parker, Andrade vacated his title.

Both Benavidez and Andrade are now under the Premier Boxing Champions brand. Andrade debuted for the organization in his last fight, in January, beating Demond Nicholson via unanimous decision. This will be the second consecutive PPV event for Benavidez and Andrade’s first.
